No on AB 597 Harabedian (D-Pasadena)

AB 597 Would Strip Critical Support from Survivors

California Fire Survivors Urge Lawmakers to Reject Insurance-Backed Bill That Limits Public Adjuster Access

Burned Forest

Homeowners who hire public adjusters to represent them in the claims process obtain on average 40% more than what the insurance company offers to settle the claim.

1. Call Assemblymember Harabedian (D-Pasadena) at (916) 319-2041 and tell him AB 597 is bad for consumers and fire victims.

2. Contact your senator and tell them to VOTE NO ON AB 597.

TAKE ACTION

Why Harabedian's AB 597 is Bad for Fire Victims; Good for Insurance Companies

AB 597 Harabedian (D-Pasadena) is sponsored by the insurance industry and opposed by consumer advocates & fire victims

Limits Tools for Fire Victims; Limits Consumer Choice

  • Reducing Payouts to Victims

Insurance Company's Playbook

  • Insurance companies in different states try the same thing and restrict tools survivros have to get paid fairly.

Current Law Already Protects Consumers

  • Fire survivors should receive no less than their insurer's offer, so hiring a public adjuster allows victims to receive more money, never less.

No Evidence for AB 597

  • CA Department of Insurance has provided no evidence for AB 597 by Asm. Harabedian (D-Pasadena) despite overseeing tens of thousands of wildfire claims.
